A member of XDA forum named ispanecaaaa has posted a nice simple guide on how to install Android OS on your Samsung Wave. He come with downloadable rooted Android image file. So once you’ve installed it, your Wave will run rooted Android OS.
Yet, you’ll also be able to overclock Samsung Wave CPU speed to 1.6GHz while normally Samsung Wave is powered with 1GHz ARM Cortex-A8 processor.

How to Overclock Samsung Wave Runs Android OS
Step 1. Install Android 2.2 Froyo OS (use provided Android image above) on Samsung Wave GT-S8500 [read here]
Step 2. Download overclocking app above >> put it in the memory card >> install it
Step 3. Give the app root permission
Step 4. Launch the app and press [Overclock Load Module] >> after “CPU frequency max” >> several overclocking options will come out >> now choose an option >> press to [Confirm].
Step 5. Finally, press in [Scaling] >> put the maximum and minimum to the maximum >> then press [Apply].
