Workaround to Fix Error 3002, 1604, 1600 During iOS 5 Restore – iOS 5 beta 1 (iOS5b1) .ipsw files have been leaked for download and install. Yet, even Non Dev users without UDID can also install and hactivate iOS5 on iPhone, iPod and iPad. Yet, iOS5b1 is also jailbroken already using redSn0w and users can also create custom jailbroken iOS5 ipsw using Sn0wBreeze. But unfortunately some users might experience iTunes error with code 3002 during iOS 5 ipsw restore. Some other users might also face iTunes error code 1600 and 1604. So how to fix this issue?

Fix iTunes Error 3002
1- Install newest version of iTunes while do not connect your iPhone, iPod or iPad yet.
2- Once installed, run new iTunes for a while then close it.
3- Windows users simply go to folder
C:\Documents and Settings\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates
Mac users need to locate it. I don’t really sure where it is.
4- Cut and paste files there to somewhere else.
Do not delete them in case the steps does not work for you, you can still copy them back to the folder. You can find out your username by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del.
5- Put your iPhone into DFU Mode
6- Finally, proceed with iOS 5 restore procedure
(via MYP)
Well, actually there is another way to fix error 3002 on Windows 64-bit using custom iOS 5 .ipsw created with Sn0wBreeze:
1- Go to C:\Users\userAppDataRoaming\Apple\Computer\iTunesDevice
2- Cut and paste files and paste them somewhere else
3- Take the recently .IPSW file created with snowbreeze and paste it on this folder and rename it to “x12220000_5_Recovery.ipsw“.
4- Then, go back to itunes
5- Enter DFU mode >> restore >> hold [Shift] to restore >> select the file on the folder C:\Users\userAppDataRoaming\Apple\Computer\iTunesDevice and it will work out.

my cmputer doesnt let me locat it, it says
Cannot find ‘file:///C:\Documents%20and%20 Settings\Application%20Data\Apple%20Computer\iTunes\iPhone%20Software%20Updates’. Make sure the path or internet address is correct.
Whats this for???? and mean?^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
i think you removed the folder containing the update files. just remove the ipsw’s from inside the folder, not the folder itself
that’s helpful bro.. thanks..
Maybe you didn’t check the box in Tools – Folder Options – View ”Show hidden files and folders” because thad folder is hidden
I had this error too, and I found that to get around this error you just have to shift-click RESTORE instead of shift-clicking UPDATE. Hope this helps others who come across this on google
Thanks, this worked for me. File says “Restore” right in the name; should’ve figured.
THANK YOU IT WORKED!!!
Thank you so much!! It worked, and all my apps are as they should be, no lost data. Thank you!

OK, people are getting different errors and among which 3200 and 3002 are most common. I found the following fixes.
1. Connect your iPhone, iPod or iPad to iTunes 10.5 in Windows. Enter Apple login credentials and authorize the PC. Now click the Shift key+ Restore button in iTunes, locate and restore the iOS 5.0 file. Do this repeatedly until you get it right.
2. Run iTunes software with Administrator privileges. That is, right click on iTunes icon and run as administrator. Now download/restore iOS5, and it should work.
2. Get your iPhone into DFU model and install iOS 5: A good tutorial on entering DFU mode is given in Apple website here.
3. Update iTunes to version 10.5. Move the contents of the Apple software folder in iTunes directory to desktop. I didn’t try this, but some are recommending this as a fix for 3200 error.
