In case if you didn’t know yet, Apple has officially released iPad Mini in San Jose while also announced iPad 4 as well. You may notice from its name that “Mini” should refer to a smaller size than the original one. Correct!! Besides, the price tag is described as “cheaper than an iPad.” The iPad mini starts at $329 for the 16GB version, and although it’s not as high-end as the new Retina iPad, it’s got enough about it to sell in high numbers.

The iPad Mini is boasting a 7.9″ 1024×768 display, meaning a 4:3 aspect ratio (see: fat iPhone / iPod baby). The Nexus 7 has a 7″ 1280×800 panel (16:10). In pixel density and, well, pixels in general, the Nexus 7 does clearly run away with it. The new iPad with Retina display measures the same size as its predecessor, but is slightly heavier thanks to its advanced hardware. The iPad 2, which has been around for nearly 20 months now, is still a decent runner in spite of its age. Packing in a variation of the dual-core, A5 processor – the same as the new iPad mini – it offers enough power for users to enjoy high-end gaming without any lag. Its 9.7-inch display spans 1024-by-768, offering a reasonable 132 pixels per inch, or ppi, and so if you’re looking for a large screen and a cheap price in an Apple tablet, the iPad 2 is the one to go with.
Cellular connectivity goes to the iPad Mini, even if a 3G N7 does come to be, LTE connectivity as an option is simply better (moar gees). Now, the value of a 32GB 3G Nexus 7 ($300-350?) vs. a 32GB 4G iPad Mini ($560)? Well, something tells me that the Wi-Fi 32GB price comparison will look reasonable by comparison. But physically, the Mini is both thinner and lighter than the N7.
In terms of storage, we’re all pretty sure at this point that the 16GB version of the Nexus 7 will be dropping to $200, and a new 32GB edition will be introduced at $250. Meanwhile, Apple has kept the same $100 storage increments of the iPad and iPhone for the Mini, which makes comparing the soon-to-be $250 32GB N7 and the $430 32GB iPad Mini quite a laughable exercise. Detailed discussion regarding iPad Mini vs Nexus 7 can be found here.
But as well as the eye-watering processor speed, iPad Mini also features the Lightning dock connector, improved Wi-Fi, LTE support for Europe or Asia, and HD FaceTime.
