Root Treatment For HTC EVO 3D (CDMA) Phone

Great news for all owners of CDMA version of HTC Evo 3D as this phone is already getting root treatment. You may be glad enough to own this cool Android smartphone powered with 1.2GHz Dualcore Qualcomm MSM8660 processor and Adreno 220 GPU. But you’ll be more glad if you have root access on it so you can install custom ROM as well as root-only apps from Google Play Store. In this page, you’ll see a method how to root your HTC Evo 3D effortlessly. But don’t forget to be careful.

Preparation To Root

- Ensure your phone has at least 80% battery power
- Don’t forget to create full backup of your data
- Your phone’s bootloader should be unlocked already (read here)
- This root is only for Evo 3D CDMA runs Android ICS
- Download HTC Drivers software here
- Download S-OFF Tool for Evo 3D here
- Download Flashable SU (Superuser-3.1.3-arm-signed.zip) here

How To Root

1- Install HTC Drivers you’ve downloaded first

2- Extract files from the S-OFF Tools archive to the Desktop of your PC.

3- Enable USB debugging on your phone:

Go to Menu>>Settings>>Developer Options>>USB Debugging, check-mark the box.

4- Connect your Evo 3D phone into your PC

5- Open a Command Prompt Window on your Desktop.

To do so, press and hold the Shift key on your keyboard and right-click on any empty area on the screen, choose the Open command window here option.

6- Now type following command then hit enter:

adb push recovery.img /sdcard/
adb push Superuser-3.1.3-arm-signed.zip /sdcard/

7- Once the process complete, enter this command as well:

adb reboot bootloader

8- Your phone should now enter Fastboot mode

9- Now enter this command:

fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

10- Once done processing, enter this command to enter Recovery mode:

adb reboot recovery

11- In Recovery, select tools followed by enable 4EXT smartflash.

12- Go back to the Main Menu of the Recovery once again.

13- Select install zip from sdcard followed by toggle script asserts. You need to enable this option.

14- Select choose zip from sdcard

15- Now navigate to the /sdcard/ path of your device and choose the Flashable SU file to be flashed on your device.

16- Once it done, reboot your phone

17- When your Evo 3D reboots, just open up the Superuser app

18- Then use the update binaries option to update the binaries on your phone.
