Sony PlayStation is one of very popular game console competes with Xbox and Nintendo. With thousands users out there, obviously PlayStation becomes the most favorite console device in the world. Currently this device has been reached its third generation combining advanced graphical effects with cloud features. However, there are still thousands fellow users of its second generation, the PlayStation 2 aka PS2.
Following the hype of PSX emulator tool for PS1, there is another great emulator tool for PS2 named as PCSX2. According to its official compatibility page, PCSX2 is compatible with -so far- 2299 PS2 game titles. Pretty huge numbers to play for.
What’s so special about this PS2 emulator program?
First, this app is made available for Windows, Linux as well as Mac OS X platforms. Secondly, PCSX2 up to 4096×4096, Anti Aliasing and Texture filtering. It means you can have even better display in your widescreen PC’s HD LCD/LED monitor (even in full HD 1080p). And another best part is: you can use almost any controller that works on Windows and that’s including Keyboard, Mouse, PS3 sticks, Xbox 360 controllers and so on.

PCSX2 comes in 3 flavors, full installer, web installer and binary. Full installer has the DirectX web installer bundled, web installer optionally downloads it from the internet, and binary is only the program with the plugins. Download the one you prefer or if you don’t know which, the full installer.
Once downloaded, start the installation which is practically easy. Once done, give the app a try. PCSX2 can load PS2 game loaded via your DVD drive or even .ISO file downloaded from Internet or made by yourself.
But one more thing, you may need to get the BIOS file from your Playstation 2 console. Because the file is not included with PCSX2 since it is a Sony copyright.

My best favorite game to play with PCSX2 is FIFA Soccer 2008. It’s just awesome. You better also try Metal Gear Solid, Grand Theft Auto series (GTA), and don’t forget Final Fantasy.
