Do you want to create a boot-able OSX 10.8 Mountain Lion install disc in easiest automatic way? Meet LionDiskMaker tool!! This app is a great tool to ridiculously burn a DVD disc or build a bootable USB drive from Mac OS X Lion or OS X Mountain Lion Installation program. You might already find the way it can be done manually, but for a person which is not-so-geek like me, I prefer to do that geeky task automatically and LionDiskMaker is just the perfect tool for me.
As a quick tip, making a bootable USB installation disk or DVD disc will help you a lot if you want to install Mountain Lion on multiple Macs but do not want to re-download it on each Mac. Apple’s generous licensing terms allow you to install a single purchase of Mountain Lion on all of your personal Macs. And the main useful function is to perform a clean OS X install.
To burn the DVD, you will need a SuperDrive and a writable DVD (single layer, 4,7 GB for Lion, or dual-Layer, 8,5 DVD-R). To build a bootable disk, you’ll need an 8 GB (minimum) USB thumb key drive, a USB or Firewire drive or an SD-Card.
How To Make A Bootable Installation DVD/USB for OS X 10.8?
1- Download InstallESD.DMG file first (OS X 10.8 Installer)
2- Download the LionDiskMaker tool
3- Launch LionDiskMaker tool up
4- The tool will locate the installer app automatically (InstallESD.DMG)
5- Extract the disk image, and then make the boot disk.
p.s: if you point the tool to a disk or USB drive, Lion DiskMaker will erase the volume or the drive you chose, according to the options you chose. Don’t forget to backup your data first.
