There is already a way to root your Samsung Galaxy Nexus. But today there’s a new standalone tool to make the job done easier. The tool that appears on GalaxyNexusForum.com, this standalone tool is basically a boot disc equipped with ADB and fastboot make it capable to do many advanced tasks like root, unroot, unlock bootloader, re-lock bootloader, and even restore stock Android 4.0.4 firmware.
Basically, those tasks have been discovered few months ago but with this app, everything will be made so easy and simple cutting long steps to a simple one, two and three.
Created by 1KDS, the standalone tool is simply defined as pre-configured Linux environment with ADB, fastboot, and necessary drivers to do the magic into your Galaxy Nexus phone. You can use it either on Mac or Windows PC.
There are two disc images available: the first one is capable to root and unlock phone’s bootloader while the other one can restore stock Android 4.0.4 ICS as well as lock its bootloader.
How To Make Use Of This Tool? Simply download the burn-able .ISO file to your computer then use any favorite program to burn that ISO file into a CD or DVD then use it to boot your computer.
Do not forget to change default boot priority to your optical drive. Once you boot into Linux environment via that standalone disc, you’ll see a yellow “boot baby… boot” screen and yellow dots for 3-5 minutes. The script will start after that.
If you want faster experience, you can also make a bootable Live USB using the same .ISO file. UnetBootin may help you for that.
