So finally here’s the root treatment for US version Verizon Galaxy S3 SGH-I535 phone running Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich OS. Previously we’ve seen all-in-one toolkit for US variants of SGS3 including AT&T, T-Mo and Sprint. That tool can do many magic things including to root, flash CWM, install drivers, create full Nandroid and so on but it left Verizon SGS3 in the dark.

But fear no more as you can still give your SGS3 SCH-I535 a root treatment and install world’s best custom recovery app (CWM) on it following explained steps below..

Before we proceed, please do understand that all risks are yours we do not hold any responsibility if your phone is brick. Ensure you have created full backup before starting the root procedure.

The How-to Steps

1- Download all necessary things:

- Download Rooted System Image (.IMG) here (1.5GB)
- Download Odin3 Here then extract it
- Download Custom Recovery Image (CWM)

You better place all those files in desktop for easy access.

2- Launch Odin 3 tool up by double-clicking it

3- Now turn your SGS3 phone off

4- Now boot your phone by pressing Volume DOWN + Home + Power buttons at once

5- Then press Volume UP button to enter Download Mode

6- Plug your phone into your PC using its USB cable

7- Odin should now detect your phone

8- In Odin, click the PDA tab

9- Now select the Rooted System Image file downloaded in step 1

10- Now hit Odin’s Start button to flash that rooted image file

Upon reboot, your phone should now be rooted which you can then install root-only apps on it including SuperSu. Before, you may also need to install Clockworkmod Recovery (CWM) app on it. To do that..

1- Move downloaded Recovery Image into your ADB folder

2- Plug your phone into your PC in normal mode

3- Now launch command prompt window up

4- Navigate to your ADB folder in CMD (you should be familiar with CMD commands)

5- Once you’re there, type these commands..

adb push recovery.img /sdcard/
adb shell
su
dd if=/sdcard/recovery.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p18
reboot recovery

6- Your phone now should reboot into recovery

That’s it. If you are now booting into your installed recovery (CWM) that means you’ve done a great job. Otherwise you may repeat the steps. If you’ve experienced some weird issues, finding more queries at this XDA thread may help you.

Does those manual steps above sound too difficult for you? Then lets hope for the release of All-in-one Toolkit for SGS3 Verizon model. That tool can do many advanced things for you.
