Kindle Fire Also Receives Android 4.1 Jelly Bean As Well (Unofficially)

Kindle Fire users have to be happy now as there is a ported build of Google’s next version mobile OS, the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean ROM. Just recently we’ve seen how easy it is to install JB ROM on rooted Motorola Xoom wifi, this time we’ll see and watch how to install JB ROM of Amazon Kindle Fire in a breeze.

Initially Kindle Fire runs Google Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS but daily flasher users or they who love challenging their device to run any leaked or ported build, so read these steps to have your Kindle Fire runs Jelly Bean before anyone else.

Before we proceed, make sure you have created a full backup. Do not forget to also thank to XDA Member “Hashcode” for sharing this awesome hack here.

The How To

1- Download Kindle Fire Utility v0.9.6 [link - 13.0MB]

2- Extract the zip file using WInzip, WInrar or 7zip

3- Double-click to run install_drivers.bat to install appropriate drivers

4- Now connect Kindle Fire into your PC using its USB cable

5- Double-click to run.bat

6- Install latest TWRP Recovery (In this case is menu number 5)

7- Also install latest FireFireFire utility to boot into recovery mode

8- Download Android 4.1 Jelly Bean ROM for Kindle Fire:

Filename : jb-kfire-hashcode-07-13.zip
Size : 113.6 MB
Download : Mirror 1 or Mirror 2

9- Download latest working version of GApps here

10- Now copy both .zip file into the root folder of your Kindle Fire

11- Now boot into TWRP Recovery to do that..

- Turn your tablet off
- Now press Power button till it shows the boot logo
- Then press and hold the power button for 5-10 seconds
- FireFireFire should bring it to boot into TWRP

12- Now you better make a full backup first

13- Once done, you can start flashing the Jelley Bean ROM

14- It then should reboot.

15- Once done, do not forget to flash GApps as well

If somehow your wifi is not working properly, follow these steps to fix the issue..

1- Connect your Kindle again to PC

2- Double-click to run install_drivers.bat again

3- Open Windows command prompt

4- Navigate to your adb folder

5- Then type and execute this command..

adb shell
su
fix-mac.sh
exit

6- That’s all.
