Just few days ago AT&T has rolled out new software update with version number 1.85. Unluckily, for you with rooted One X, updating your phone to this latest version will break the root. So how to get it back? Simply read on these steps to gain root access on AT&T One X running latest software update v1.85.

Step-by-step To Root
1- Make sure you’ve made a full backup for “just in case” thing
2- Make sure you’ve also installed proper drivers software
3- Download 1-click root tool needed for the operation
4- Extract that .zip file to a location you can easily access it
5- Close “HTC Sync” service if it’s running
6- On your phone, go to Settings >> Development >> then tick Enable USB Debugging
7- Now connect your One X to PC with its USB cable. Make it in “Charge Only” mode.
You can pull down its Notification bar then change connection type to “Charge Only”
8- Now run the 1-click root tool. Simply double-click the “root.bat” extracted from step 4.
9- The tool will run in Command Prompt.
10- Now simply follow on-screen instruction and you are good to go.
Once done, your newly updated AT&T HTC One X should now be rooted, again. Guess what? Once you’ve rooted your phone using this tool, the tool will also flash fully working su binary and Superuser.apk.
If you’ve found a thing goes wrong, try to also enable “Wifi” option before running the tool. Basically it isn’t necessary but seems helpful.
