Powered with 1.5 dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S3 MSM8260 processor, many users have been tempted to buy and use Sony Xperia Ion LT28i. That’s before the Galaxy S3 is released. However, that one of Sony’s high-end Android phone is still preferred by many. Obviously as the phone is also equipped with Adreno 220 GPU to render many heavy graphic-demand games to run smoothly. Plus, there is a 12MP primary camera on its rear. So, if you are an owner of this phone and you have its AT&T version on hands, simply read these steps to bring your phone rooted.
Before you proceed, make sure you know what you are about to do. Rooting may void your phone’s warranty and since this manual process need several advanced steps, please proceed with caution. We hold no responsibility if your phone gets bricked.
1- Download the needed package file to root
File Name : Xperia_Ion_Rooting.zip
File Size : 1.08MB
Download Link : Here or Here
2- Extract that file to a location you can access easily (e.g: Desktop)
3- Download insecure kernel
File: LT28i_6.0.F.0.72_Boot.elf [link]
File: LT28i_6.0.F.0.111_Boot_Inecure.elf [link]
4- Make sure your bootloader is unlocked (or unlock it first)
5- Now flash the insecure kernel to your phone
6- Enable USB Debugging on your phone’s settings
7- Now boot the phone and connect it to PC
8- Now run the batch file extracted from step 2
9- Wait till the script do the magic
10- Once done, install the superuser and busybox from Google Play
