Most recent smartphones and tablets are equipped with built-in GPS providing location-based services. Even taking a usual photo now may include meta data containing the location of where the photo was taken. Yet, even when you are using social networking apps like Facebook, Foursquare, Yelp and many others, those apps will be able to identify where your location is.
As a built-in GPS, unfortunately somehow and sometimes it may not be so accurate as the real standalone GPS device. It could be annoying if your phone’s GPS takes more than 10 minutes for just locating the exact position of yours.
Is there any fix for that? Obviously there are several solution to make your Android phone’s GPS works more accurate and takes less time to lock correct position of yours.
EclipSim GPS Status and Toolbox
As what its name tells us, this app is all-in-one toolkit to take the most of your GPS out. It maximizes GPS abilities as well as makes GPS Status 100% space proof.

The app can also display various detailed data including position and signal strength of satellites, accuracy, speed, acceleration, altitude, bearing, pitch, roll and battery state. As a GPS Toolbox, this app can actually fix your phone’s compass, accelerometer and A-GPS data providing fast location service performance.

Ondoteam GPS Aids
Another tool full of complete aids for your device’s GPS. This one will fix GPS to work lot more faster. Pretty useful for several Samsung Galaxy devices as well as select HTC phones.

Works flawlessly (and freely) by downloading more precise time estimation from a NTP server near you, this app can make your phone’s GPS more accurate by calibrating the GPS data even more better. Hence, it performs much more faster.
However, to make use of this app even more better, root access my required although it is not a must.
The best part, this great Android app works in just one click. Once installed, you may need to select your device’s type / model in the first launch. Once done, simply tap the “Start” button. But if you want to go deeper into its Advance Mode, you’ll be able to download XTRA, download LTO, inject NTP Time, reset XTRA, reset LTO, and do NTP Server change.
GPS Doctor
Got the picture from its name? Yeah. This app will fix and give your device’s GPS needed “medicine” to make it more faster and accurate. GPS Doctor is a troubleshooting/diagnostic program for GPS systems in Android devices.

While the two apps above is a bit too geeky, GPS Doctor has very simple, easy-to-use and easy-to-understand user interface. Simply use its “Quick Fix” solution to automatically diagnose and correct many common GPS issues.
If you want a little bit geeky, there is also manual / advanced option allowing you to forcing XTRA injection, forcing time injection, and clearing aiding data (all, almanac, ephemeris, time, position, UTC, ionospheric, health, SV Dir, SV Steer, SA, RTI, and CellDBInfo). Basically, this app works by clearing stale cached values that can mislead your GPS chip as it searches for your location, then injecting the correct values into the chip using data downloaded from NTP and XTRA servers.
Quick Tip: Assisted GPS (A-GPS)
Do not forget to activate A-GPS feature on your phone. Assisted GPS uses the nearby Wi-Fi hot-spots and cell towers to triangulate your location and thus gives your GPS a boost. On your phone, go to settings >> personal >> location services >> tick “use wireless networks” and also enable “use GPS satellites”. It will dramatically increase accuracy but price is your battery life.
